How Well Do You Know the SeaTac Area? A Few Places to Visit While You Wait

Seattle SkylineIf you live in Washington State but aren’t familiar with the SeaTac area, you might want to hit a few of the top tourist destinations before your flight. This plan may be especially useful if your plane has been delayed. Driving to SeaTac gives you a great opportunity to check out some of the must-see attractions in the area, such as the Seattle parks nearby, as well as a variety of Seattle landmarks (downtown Seattle is only about 15 miles away from SeaTac). You may always visit the major landmarks for which Seattle is known, such as the Space Needle and Pike Place Market. However, some of the other attractions in the area are also well worth seeing. Exploring a local park can be an exhilarating experience, and it could give you a quick energy boost before your trip. Lincoln Park and Alki Park are less than 10 miles away from SeaTac. Lincoln Park offers beautiful trails, lovely meadows, and rocky beaches. Alki Park has a stunning shoreline with an amazing view of the local cityscape.

The Seattle Public Library

You may not associate a public library with being a sightseeing destination. However, this library is spectacular to behold. Each of its 10 floors offers noteworthy features, and the architectural design may leave you breathless.

The Olympic Sculpture Park

This park is an outdoor sculpture park found at the Seattle Art Museum. The park extends across nine acres and provides you with an amazing visual display of unique sculpture. It’s also free of charge to explore.

The Museum of History & Industry (MOAHI)

This is a must-see when you’re in the area. You can view multimedia displays, and the museum has a permanent collection as well as visiting collections. Past exhibits have included a display on Prohibition, a collection of information on Greek restaurants, and a celebration of America’s world fairs. You never know what will be on display at the MOAHI if you make an unplanned trip, but you can be sure that whatever you find there will be fascinating.

The Seattle Great Wheel

You can ride this giant wheel for an experience guaranteed to delight you. The view from the top is an unforgettable panorama of the city and water. If you visit it at night, you can see the wheel lighted up – and you may even be able to catch one of the LED light shows offered at this location.

Park, Ride, and Fly

Why not enjoy yourself by seeing some of the remarkable sights when you fly out of SeaTac?  After you visit one or two of the fabulous attractions near SeaTac, you’ll likely need to make your way to the airport to get your flight. Aeroparking is a few quick minutes from SeaTac Airport. You may park your vehicle there and take a free shuttle to the airport itself. The Aeroparking facility is a convenient option, and it’s not far from the local attractions or the airport.
